AIST – Basketball and Soccer Tour – Italy

May 29, 2009

Here is an update on the AIST select Basketball and Soccer tour traveling Italy. Blog provided by AIST soccer player from Converse College, Sara Sipe:

day 1:
After landng in milan around 7:30 am we hopped on the bus for a 3 hour bus ride to our first stop at the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It was absolutely amazing! Tourist from everywhere were taking pictures of holding or pushing the tower over, including myself! We spent about 2 hours at the location, and then hoped on the bus once more to head to our hotel in Montecatini. The bus rides are just beautiful. All of us are leaning out the windows to take pictures of the landscape. We had our first real Italian 4 course meal, and just as expected it was delicious. it consisted of salads ad bread for the first, pasta for the second, meat and potatoes for the third, and desert for the fourth. Everyone crashed after dinner to get a full nights sleep for our next filled day.

day 2:
Today was our half day in Florence. We had a guided tour of the city, and she took us around the most historical parts of the city. After the tour we were able to have some free time. We were able to experience the market shopping of bargaining with shop keepers, and further explore the city to our leisure. After our adventure in Florence we headed back to the hotel to get ready for our games. Basketball’s was first at 7 30 and soccer at 8 30; both teams did really well. It seemed as though we had already played together in previous years. The communication and work ethic was awesome! Tomorrow we head to San Marino, and I can not wait!!!!

Final Score of the Soccer Game was 1 – 1.
