Brazil Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tour 2010


This opportunity will take you through Sao Bento and Sao Paolo for some exhibition games and sight seeing around the beautiful country of Brazil. After a few days in Sao Bento, we will transfer to Paraty and Rio de Janeiro for a some time on the beach and other activities. We will be competing against club level competition.

Tentative Itinerary

Day Event
1 Depart USA on overnight flight for Sao Paolo, Brazil.
2 Arrival in Sao Paulo and transfer to the mountains. AIST staff will meet you with your bi lingual guide and escort you to check in at hotel. Practice in the evening. After practice, we will have a nice welcome dinner at a nearby restaurant.
3 After breakfast, we will have a free morning to explore Sao Bento do Sapucai. We will be staying at a Mountain top resort. Here is a link to the Hotel www.trincherira.com.br. In the afternoon, you will be able to hike some nearby trails and enjoy the scenery. In the evening, we will play game 1- vs. a local club team.
4 After breakfast, we will have a short practice and free morning to explore Sao Bento. Today we will take a tour on an Ocean Schooner and do some snorkeling. Lunch in the city in the afternoon and more time to explore the city. In the evening, we will play game 2- vs. a local club team. Dinner.
5 After breakfast, enjoy the morning before exploring the city or relaxing. Inside the park there are three of the most important musems: MAM, Bienal and Oca, all designed by famous architect Oscar Niemeyer. The Japanese garden is also worth a visit. Lunch. Game 3 vs. Local Team. Dinner.
6 After breakfast, we will check out of Hotel and depart for Rio de Janeiro. Upon arrival we will head to the beach for an afternoon in the sun. Lunch in Rio. Later in the afternoon we will check into the hotel. In the evening dinner and a free night in the city.
7 After breakfast, we will visit Corcovado (Christ Statue). The Corcovado(hunchback) mountain, so named because of its shape, is home to probably the most memorable and identifying image of Rio – The Christ The Redeemer statue. Arms boldly stretched in welcome, he embraces the city and the magnificent Bay over which he looks. After lunch, we will make a stop at Sugar Loaf.. There are many mountain tops in the world called Sugar Loaf, but the most famous must be the one in Rio de Janeiro. The city is surrounded by granite rocks sticking out into the sky, and one of those rocks is Sugar Loaf. The difference with the other peaks is, that Sugar Loaf, or Pde Aar, is situated right on the shore. Visit Sugar Loaf. In the evening, we will start the three team tournament. Dinner will follow the tournament.
8 After breakfast, enjoy your last day in Brazil on the beach. After lunch, a trip to the city to shop for souvenirs is possible or you can relax on the beach. In the evening, we will have our farewell dinner.
9 After breakfast, depart Rio de Janeiro for return flight home.

Other costs incurred will depend on each individual’s spending habits. Connecting airfare to departure city, souvenirs, some meals and any personal expenses will not be covered by American International Sports Teams.
