| Day | Event |
|---|---|
| 1 | Arrive in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Your guide will be waiting for you at the airport to take you to your hotel for check-in and to brief you on the tours’ activities. |
| 2 | Today we will take a city tour of Santo Domingo. Discover the oldest city in the New World, founded by the Conquistadors in 1496. See the Cathedral of Santa Maria la Menor, the first in the Americas, where the remains of Christopher Columbus are buried. Visit Columbus’ Alcazar, a beautiful palace built for Diego, the son of the discoverer, where you can admire the elegant lifestyle of colonial times. Close by is the Atarazana, a lovely and picturesque street typical of the XVI century, which now houses gift shops, boutiques and Art Galleries and where we will stop briefly for refreshments. Our tour continues through the most important churches, buildings and parks of this colonial town, once ransacked by pirates and recently restored to its past glory. Opening ceremonies of tournament and start of games. |
| 3 | After breakfast we will depart for the Plaza de Espana. This large, open air plaza in front of the Alcazar de Colon fronts numerous small restaurants and outdoor cafes that are quite popular in late afternoon. The street bordering the plaza is closed to traffic. In the past it was the Plaza de Armas, where soldiers paraded. Before that it was the conuco (cultivated fields) of the native Tainos. In the evening, the tournament continues. |
| 4 | A day on the Beach! The magnificent beach boasts turquoise water and a glorious view. Try one of the beach activities including snorkeling, paddle boat, banana boat, scuba lessons, sailing or other activities included. Tournament Continues. |
| 5 | Today we will take a trip to El Mercado Modelo. This market shows off the more popular aspects of the culture. Well-known for its color and for the charismatic salesmanship of its vendors, the market offers a wide variety of goods including flowers and home-decorating items. You will also find articles to help you remember your stay in this small corner of paradise: all kinds of lotions and perfumes, amulets, prayers, stamps, and pictures of saints promising love, good luck and money. Tournament Continues. |
| 6 | Today, depending on the game schedule, we will make stop at theOzama Fortress. Guarding the entrance to Santo Domingo and overlooking the Ozama River, the Ozama Fortress is the earliest military building in the new colonies. It has been used both as a fortress and later as a prison until the 20th century. Finals of the tournament, closing ceremonies and awards presentation. |
