Traveler Safety & Helpful Travel Resources

AIST is not affiliated with any of the third-party links listed below. These resources are provided for traveler convenience only.

General Safety

The safety of our travelers is always AIST’s first priority.

At this time, we do not have any specific security or safety concerns regarding our athletes traveling abroad to the destinations included in their tour itinerary. AIST continues to monitor destination conditions and encourages all travelers and families to review official government resources before departure.

One of the best safety practices when traveling internationally is to check current U.S. Department of State Travel Advisories for your destination.

A Note on Global Events & Terrorism

Unfortunately, unexpected events can happen anywhere in the world. The best approach is to stay informed, remain aware of your surroundings, follow the guidance of local authorities and tour staff, and continue to travel with confidence and common sense.

AIST encourages travelers to be alert, prepared, and informed — without allowing fear to take away from the life-changing opportunity of international travel.

Identification for Domestic & International Travel

For domestic air travel within the United States, travelers 18 and older must present a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another TSA-approved form of identification.

All international travelers are responsible for obtaining and carrying the required travel documents for their trip, including but not limited to passports, visas, transit visas, student visas, work visas, or any other required entry documentation.

Important Passport Reminder

Passports should have at least six months of validity remaining beyond the final day of international travel. Many countries may deny entry if a passport expires too soon after your return date.

Please check your passport early and renew it if necessary.

Europe Travel Requirements: EES & ETIAS

Travelers to Europe should be aware of new entry systems being implemented by the European Union.

The Entry/Exit System, known as EES, is a digital border system for non-EU travelers entering many European countries.

ETIAS is the upcoming travel authorization system for visa-exempt travelers, including U.S. citizens, visiting many European countries. ETIAS is expected to begin in the last quarter of 2026.
