Background:
Caitlin Peterson, a distinguished alumnus of the University of Central Missouri (UCM), has made a remarkable impact on the Jennies volleyball program since being named the ninth head coach in January 2022. A former All-American and MIAA Hall of Famer, Peterson brings a wealth of experience and a passion for the sport to her role.
Coaching Achievements:
Under Peterson’s leadership, the Jennies achieved a stellar 25-8 record in the 2023 season, clinching their 26th MIAA Regular Season title and fourth conference tournament title. Her exceptional coaching earned her the 2023 MIAA Coach of the Year award. The team showcased its strength by defeating 10 AVCA top-25 ranked opponents, marking the program's 37th NCAA Tournament appearance.
In her first season, Peterson led the team to a 19-11 record, with significant victories over top-ranked teams. Her players excelled individually, with eight earning All-MIAA selections, including the 2023 Player and Setter of the Year, Olivia Olson.
Coaching Experience:
Before stepping into the head coach role, Peterson dedicated nine seasons to the Jennies as a senior associate, associate, and assistant coach. Over her coaching tenure, the program has secured five MIAA regular season titles, three MIAA postseason championships, and two NCAA Division II Regional titles. She has played a pivotal role in developing talent, with 18 All-Americans credited during her coaching tenure.
Playing Career:
A standout player for the Jennies from 2005 to 2009, Peterson was a starting setter and team captain. She contributed significantly to the team's success, helping secure a conference championship in 2009 and earning multiple accolades, including an AVCA All-American selection. She remains second all-time in assists at UCM and eighth in MIAA history.
Education:
Peterson graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting, maintaining a commendable 3.88 GPA, and later earned a master’s degree in exercise science from UCM.
Personal Life:
Originally from Buhler, Kansas, Caitlin resides in Warrensburg with her husband, Adam, and their three children: Jax, Brecklyn, and Maci. Her commitment to excellence in coaching, combined with her dedication to her family, exemplifies her leadership both on and off the court.
